Hydro Strawberry Cough Homebox Tent Grow

The towel in the bucket trick is working great and keeping the humidity around 35-40% in Tent 2. I have noticed that some of the leaves that were 'new' when the humidity was low have a faint matt appearance around the margins, but everything fine now.

Well i went away for two days and came back to find more growth than i expected...wow.

Tent 2 D13 of veg with the clones is starting to kick in and the biggest is about 3x bigger than the rest (closest to the air inlet, hence cooler at the start so less heat stress).

Tent 1 D7 of flower have plants that i can hardly tell were toxic tent syndromed. They have exploded in size and are starting to show preflowers. All are female as i got one (and only one) Strawberry feminized seed from Dutch Passion, grew a mother and cloned it.

I was a bit worried about getting the seeds posted in so ordered 1 off Strawberry, White Widdow and Morning Glory in one batch and then 1 off G13 Haze, Red Diesel and Great White Shark in another batch (sadly the second batch didnt make it).

I was happy the strawberry made it as it is meant to be a uplifting high that isnt paranoid and eases anxiety. The main reason i am growing is to give to a mate of mine who isnt that financially well off and gets very bad anxiety, hence free pot would help him out no end.

Just compared the photos from day 7 and day 11 of flowering...lots and lots of growth. I though i would only get a couple of ounces but i think it may be more now.

There has been lots of stretch but also lots of leaf growth over the last few days, although the leaves are now smaller and over the next couple of days will start budding.

Cant wait for some strawberry

I am still running the EC at around 0.8-1.0 and the pH at 5.2-5.5 now.
I find that if i put the EC any higher with the Strawberry Cough the tips of the leaves start to burn.
I put in some high P/K extra fertilizer two days ago (like Rock Juice) and have found that the leaves have burnt at the tips even with 0.8-1.0 EC. Will wait a day then dilute if need be.


OK time for tent 2.
Running the same EC, but the pH heeps dropping to 5.0 and i keep raising it to 5.4. This is interesting as i always have high pH source water so i am not used to this. Tent 2 is in Hydroton clay balls vs Tent 1 with cococoir and 20% perlite, hence Tent 2 not as pH stable as tent 1.

Tent 2 has been in flower for 8 days but i got the timer wrong and it has had 5 days of 13hrs light and 3 days of 12hrs (since i corrected it). what do you guys think, does the first 5 days count???

The plants are a bit bushier and have not grown as tall ast tent 1 but have much bigger fan leaves due to not being poisoned for the first couple of weeks in toxic tent (DONT BUY EZI TENTS).

Finally got around to posting some pictures without the HPS on (button to turn it off was on the other side of the tent, but then an ingenious thought came to me "why dont you turn it off at the power point"). Hence nice pictures with GREEN instead of YELLOW.

Tent 1 is now at Day 22 of Flowering.
Starting to suck the nutrients up (EC dropped from 1.0 to 0.8) and drink a lot more water (4 plants go through 10L in two days (1 gallon).

Tent 2: Day 12 of Flower
Im a bit disapointed by tent 2....put some ROCK JUICE in last week and the plants basically didnt stretch at all. I was expecting the same amount of stretch as Tent 1, but they just didnt. After reading the ROCK JUICE label it says something about stopping plants stretching.....I guess this was it. Anyway back to plain flower nutes and hopefully they will stretch a bit as i am worried that they are too bushy.

I have also put a heater in Tent 2 as night temps were getting to 55F (12-14C). Will keep night temps at 65F 18C and day at 77F 25C. How much of the lack of stretch do you think was due to the cold night temperatures?????

Hi guys, its been a few days sorry for the lack of updates, i have been to Australia for the MotoGP motorcycle racing. Hayden got knocked off again on the first lap The home boy won quite convincingly and there were heaps of crashes.
I think its the best race of the season, you can get a front row seat on the fence 10m away from the bikes on the best corner of the track with general admission tickets and all you have to do is que for 1:30mins before the gates open. This would be several hundred $$$ anywhere else. I like this track better than the other ones i go to too.

Day 32 of flowering
EC = 8-1.0
pH = 5.3 - 6 (let it go from 5.3 to 6 then pH down to 5.3 again...so all nutrients are available at the different pHs.)

Until today i had extra Potassium and Phosphorous chemical 1mL/L, but today i have added "ROCK JUICE" to the grow instead. I added this due to the impact it had on Tent 2 (which had ROCK JUICE for 1 wk at wk 1 of flowering....pics to follow).

Now firstly i must appologise for the lack of focus on these next pictures. I dont have a brilliant camera and secondly i have not figured out how to take close ups without light to help it focus.

Tent 2 had ROCK JUICE for 1wk at wk 1 and then back to normal nutes of EC 8-1.0 and pH 5.3-6 with extra K and P chemical solution.

The ROCK JUICE just stopped the plants dead....no stretch, i mean Zero...Zip...
I was stressing, but then the buds grew whilst i was in Aus at MotoGP (only away 8 days and BOOM). Buds are really thick, fat and totally solid and its only day 22 of flowering. Remember Strawberry Cough is meant to be poxy in yeild.

Notice the difference between these pics and those of Tent 1 which is almost grown exactly the same except 10 days ahead.

Now Tent 1 and Tent 2 have the exact same strain from the exact same mother plant yet the buds look totally different. It must have been the ROCK JUICE which stopped the stretch totally.

I am tempted to do my next veg for longer and LST the plants around a bit to fill the room then put to flower and add ROCK JUICE to stop the strech and produce monster buds.

I have now added the ROCK JUICE to Tent 1 to see the impact. It says it will fatten buds in wk 4 and stop strech / start buds if put on in week 1, so giving both options the try. Thats the beauty of two tents with exactly the same strains, i wan tinker to the hearts content.

Nice looking buds there. i love the way rock juice give the rock hard buds and the stopping of stretching is really good for people with limited space. will be keeping a close eye on this grow now.

OK time for an update...

Room 2 have started to kick in. Here is the one with the most growth. I am having some problems with temperature in this room. Dont know why, the rooms have the same fans/drawthrough etc, and the humidity is getting a bit low for a new plant (20%). I have put a bucket in the room with an airstone to try and bring the humidity up. Will tell you if it works.

Only thing I can think of is that your bottom vents in that tent aren't drawing as well as on the other tent. Do the vents on that tent have the same amount of clearance from walls and/or the opposite tent?

Got that issue figured out now setting sun.....thanks for the input though, you were on the right track.
It was the fact i was sucking with the fan not blowing and that i had a Y before the fan with each side of the top of the Y attached to a tent. The hotter tent had a longer suction line, hence uneven draw.

I now have it set up so Tent2 sucks air in from under the house into the tent and then pumps the air out of the tent and into the room. Tent1 sucks air in from the bottom of the room (coldest air in the room) and then pumps it out through the roof and through a carbon filter. Temps sit around 24C 76F in the grow room at pot base height (obviously a couple of degrees warmer where the plants are being hit by light).

Added ROCK JUICE 2 days ago so dont expect any impact yet.
Buds are a bit fluffy but quite crystalised

Tent 2 Day 25 of Flower:
Real thick nuggets forming, if i squeeze them they dont budge. No fluff here.
I guess this shows what ROCK JUICE at Day 1 Flower does. Hope Tent 1 copies this as there are tonnes more flowers in T1.

Im just amazed at the thickness of T1's buds at D25. Hope they just keep getting thicker.

The yellow plant in the corner of the pic of T1 is my Gibberellic Acid Project. It showed signs of bananas a couple of days ago so today it gets its own room. The reason its yellow is (1) gibb and (2) im only playing so its hydro setup consists of a bucket with a brick in the bottom, a tiny pump and airstone (in the gap in the bucket down the side of the brick. i.e. make shift sump) and a small pot full of hydroton which gets trickle fed by the pump. I just pour watered down nute solution from the main res in the bucket when the air stone makes that 'im empty' noise.
