I would pee around the perimeter of your grow so whatever did this won't come back!

Idk I started it indoor in that pot and once it got that big I cut the bottom off and stuck it In a hole I dug and refilled with soil

I would try to put something around it so the sun don't bake the roots. Maybe even bury the whole pot with a mound of soil. since it's a bottomless pot. .

When I did this I had removed and planted the plant in the ground and then set pot around the the plant

Hmmmm- looks like I would just cut that dead top off and see what happens ?
