Is a multi spectrum light any good?

i have a 400 watt multi spectrum light. looks like one of those lights in a parking garage. is this light good for my grow or will it do nothing at all? do i need to make a special hood or can i just modify the one that it has. its all enclosed with a glass front cover rightnow.

ok i just found out that my light is a multi vapor. you should've seen the look on my face when i found out that its really just a mh bulb lol

Mercury vapor and metal halide are not the same bulbs. MH is a better spectrum than mercury vapor is. Runs cooler and will grow better bud because it has more usable light.

from what i found out, multi vapor is just the name of the bulb that is used by others companies such as sylvania opposed to ge which calls theirs mh. so far it has made an improvment but then again all i was using was four led panels

I have been using a warm 1000W MH for years. Works for me.
