Is pvc safe to use?

Ive been researching info on the use of pvc, and i must say its not too good. There is a lot of info stating that the use of pvc is just a health hazard waiting to happen. Im just wondering how people feel about the use of it in terms of framing a box with pvc, and having mylar draped walls? Any and all info is welcome on this one. And if you guys and gals know of a similar alternative to pvc, please chime in with it. Thanks.

Growers been using pvc for a long time. I don't think its an issue unless you're using some kind of solvents in it.

Disney uses PVC pipes for their hydroponics. I have seen other growers of veggies use PVC for growing. It may be problems waiting to happen, but so far in gardening has shown useful and not dangerous.We may know different ion 10 years but right now its good!~

im starting my grow box and i plan on using PVC pipe for the frame anyone got any tips or tricks to help me out

If the pvc has nsf-pw or nsf-61stamp on it. It is water safe, but if it has a nsf-dwv stamp the its not safe. I hope that helps

This is freak'in me me, I've always thought it safe..unless you heat it up(hps) and then it may emit chemicals gasses...another reason to have ample venting..?
