Having some sudden issues with grow.

black Nuken - sunshine mix #4 soil.

aside from the fact that something is eating them, Was thinking caterpillar, the leaves are also starting to develop these yellow spots. whole plant is slowly starting to look like this. Seems like some of the leaves are splitting as well a bunch that are just ripped and not missing chunk.

Looks like mechanical damage from some kind of bug or possibly even a bird. But my guess is on bugs. Look over the plant, especially under the leaves and see what you find. SInce it doesn't look like your plant has begun to flower, now is the time to get these critters under control. I'm thinking grasshoppers/crickets, or catepillars, so spray the soil surface as well, in the case of crickets, they may only come out after dark.

Overall your plants still look like they are in decent shape so there might not be much of a problem to worry about. It is up to you if the problem is bad enough that you feel that you should spray any organic or chemical insecticide on the plants. Or you might just wait it out and let some predator insects show up to eat the insects that are eating the leaves.

It does look like there could be several insects involved. It is very possible that one insect will be on the plant during the day and another at night which makes it harder to figure out which is causing the real damage. I have also seen insects show up and eat parts of the leaves on my plants. After a day or two they are gone and sometimes another insect shows up.

After any type of insect eats several holes in the leaf and along the edge the structural strength of the leaf is weakened. Then when there is a storm with gusts of wind it is easier for tears or rips to start showing in the leaves.

A caterpillar I found on one of my patio plants. The insect is making a row of small holes as it moves along the leaf. I did spray that plant with Bt (not Bti) even though I was planning on throwing it away. The caterpillar was gone within an hour.

And another insect I found eating one of the leaves on a patio plant. I can't remember what this type is called. It starts to eat at the edge of the leaf and works its way to the center vein or rib and then moves back to the edge and does the next strip. The next day the insect was gone and I have not seen any of this type since then.
