LED Wattage for a 4x4 full spectrum COB

At least with full spectrum strips, LED Gardner suggests 30 watts per square/ft, or 480 for a 4x4. I'd imagine it would be the same.

It depends on the efficiacy (lumens/watt) and spectrum of the LEDs/COBs used. The low cost lights which abound on eBay and Amazon use lower quality LEDs/COBs than the top dollar lights. Their spectrum is also often lacking. I found it interesting that a Citizen CLU48-1216 had a slightly lower total cost of ownership than the CREE CXB when generating the same amount of light at $0.15 per Kwh. It is a pay now or pay the power company later situation.

Wattage is dinosaur thinking. PAR Should be about 300 for young plants. 500 to 1000 for plants growing buds. Get some type of light meter. Dimmable drivers are a must.

You need to look at the PAR foot print readings of whatever you're buying. And the efficiency. My Cobs have drivers that operate at less than half the wattage of the COB for better efficiency.
