Mainlining Question

Plant has been mainlined for 8 nodes. As these 8 nodes develop should new growth tips on them be pruned off so plant doesn't waste energy on them or is this just more effort then it's worth?

Ok, I think I was reading something LightAddict has wrote and it is now known as fluxing, memory is a bit fuzzy
