MISSOULA - Members of the medical marijuana community came together of Saturday night to host the "No Patient Left Behind" event.

The benefit collected donations to fund lobbying and public education concerning medical marijuana. The event supports the Citizens for Responsible Crime Policy in educating the public, as well as questions or misunderstandings the legislature may have about Initiative 148.

Tom Deaubert, who helped in creating the final draft of Initiative 148, says the use of medical marijuana in not what he expected with the passing of the initiative, adding that the current use of medical marijuana is unacceptable.

He hopes that with more education the public will have a better understanding of appropriate use of the drug.

"It takes a lot of coordination and a lot of effort to educate the public, to change the image that unfortunately has been established by those who have used the law unfairly for their own opportunistic ends, is going to be a massive undertaking on our part."

The gala benefit included a live and silent auction, guest speakers and music. It was held at the Holiday Inn Downtown.
