A Klamath Falls resident licensed to possess marijuana plants for medicinal
purposes reported the theft of a plant from his home on Bisbee Street early
Thursday morning.

The victim told the Klamath County Sheriff's Department he entered his
greenhouse about 3 a.m. Thursday, and scared a burglar away.

The burglar got away with one plant which the resident said was worth about
$40.

Thefts of medical marijuana are common, according to Lt. Rod Dailey of the
Klamath County Sheriff's Department.

In Oregon, a person may possess three mature marijuana plants and four
immature plants, Dailey said.

However, a medical doctor must prescribe marijuana for an illness and the
patient must obtain a medical marijuana card from the state.
