Hello:

Is it ok to mix molasses with a fert mix comprised of Mega Crop, or is it better to alternate watering/feeding the molasses/water mix with the fertilizer mix.

You should never alternate water and feeding in a megacrop grow either.... feed every time, and everything you need is in there. The molasses is not going to help at all.

Does not molasses assist in increased microbe life, consequently allowing the roots to uptake more nutrients?
First, what microbes? Have you added any? If not, they are not very numerous in your soil, and certainly are not feeding your plants. MC is doing that.

yes, molasses feeds microbes, so that would help them multiply, but there is no microbial life doing anything at all in a MC grow. MC controls everything in that container. Microbes have nothing to break down (raw minerals) and nothing to transport to the roots and the roots have no need to communicate that they have a need, to any microbes in a MC grow. The organic feeding cycle is dead in a MC grow because any microbes in there are unemployed. So, having no raw nutrients to process there are no microbes in there of any consequence because they can't thrive, and all the molasses will do is feed them as best it can, being the perfect sugar for their consumption. It will also supply a small amount of magnesium and sulfur that the plant will pull up through the roots, but again, with the MC it is not necessary as a supplement.

In an organic grow the microbes aren't exactly helping the roots uptake nutrients, the microbes are actually doing all the work, supplying raw nutrients in a usable form to the roots in a symbiotic relationship where the roots in return provide exudates, or sustenance and communication as to what else is needed, to the microbes. Mycofungi also gather nutrients and supply them to the roots, but you have to work to have this microlife in the container in the first place, and just having microlife existing in a container, especially microlife that is not doing anything productive, does not make the roots any stronger than they already were... microbes are not just automatically beneficial simply because they are there.

MC provides the nutrients in a very soluble form so that they all travel with the water into the plant. There are no microbes needed for this process to work and it doesn't matter one way or the other whether or not they are there... the nutrients are in the water and are processed inside of the plant independently of any microbes.

Thanks for the explanation, very insightful. So more or less unless full organic grow adding molasses is not all that helpful. So far the MC is serving me well, why mess with it.
