Circuit Judge Robert Krebs has declared a mistrial in the case against retired Pascagoula heart surgeon Dr. David Bruce Allen after the jury said it was hopelessly deadlocked.
Jurors deliberated over two hours Thursday before sending word to the judge they could not reach a decision.
Allen was charged with manufacturing marijuana and transfer of the controlled substance hashish.
The defense rested Thursday morning, just hours after the judge dropped four other charges against Allen.
It was unclear whether the state will pursue the felony charges against Allen in another trial.
