Wa. - An Olympia City Councilman facing marijuana charges could also lose out on his nomination to become the new Thurston County treasurer.

Joe Hyer, 37, is now facing three felony charges for possessing and selling pot.

The Thurston County Narcotics Task Force arrested Hyer last week after a confidential informant allegedly bought marijuana twice from Hyer at his home.

Hyer was nominated by the Democratic Party as a replacement for County Treasurer Robin Hunt, who is resigning. On Tuesday, Thurston County commissioners decided to hold off on officially naming Hyer as Hunt's successor.

Hyer will be back in court on March 9 for arraignment.
