Proper flushing help?

I was wondering how you would properly flush nutrients out of your plants grown in soil. I know you need to use water, but don't know the step by step procedure. Any help would be great. Thank you.

What are you experiencing to flush your soils?
How big are the containers?
What stage are you in?
What fertilizers and how often are they being used?
For me, the only reason to flush the soils, is if too much or an overdose of fertilizers happened. Please let us know why you need to take this action.

I don't have to, but I have read that you should flush when going to flower stage and before you harvest when using chemical fertilizer. I thought it was more complex than it is and was worried about over watering. I think I got it. Thank you.
