Purple spotted bud

I just got some really bright green bud, with spots of purple on it. Does anyone know what might have caused this?

Its partly the temperature and partly the plants DNA strain. Cooler temperatures will bring out a purple to bluish color in the leaves and buds. But it depends on the strains; those that have always grown in colder areas naturally are less likely to display this trait while those that haven't are more likely.
