Kind of a do it yourself guy since retired now. Had a concern about my light air intake which i have coming from a bedroom. Pretty cool i just stood a picture off the wall an inch with the ait intake hose behind it. Well i was looking for a screen to keep any random bugs from being sucked in. Well i found the budget prefilter..........wait for it.........cheese clothe!

Shoulda been a rocket scientist!

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy air conditioner filter. Its pretty cheap.

Cheesecloth isn't a great option, because it's cloth. Bugs can chew right through it. If you want a good prefilter, to keep bugs out, you'll want to make a box with several metal screens, from larger to smaller, till it's a fine mesh, slightly smaller than window screening. with openings to clean out bugs and debris, it'll last you for years and years, and can even be used as an adapter for air conditioner filters or the carbon filters for exhaust, just replacing the screens with the filters.
