Trim or not to trim

Listened to an interesting pod cast about trimming, and basically they were saying that leaves do not use energy from the plant they produce energy for the plant. They do not trim at all, it’s best to just tuck your bigger leaves if they are blocking light down in the canopy. I found it interesting, because I always believed leaves suck energy from the plant. Any thoughts?

Leaves are necessary for the well being of the plant.
No argument there.
The issue becomes more complex as the plant transitions into flower.
It's essential that anything that is budding get adequate light, and that any shoots that don't look like they're going to contribute be culled. This will reduce fluff, larfy, and small airy buds. It also allows good buds to get more nutes.
I'm in day 16 of flower and just finished a defol.
lollipopping and removing fan leaves in the canopy that is blocking light from the stacking of the nodes.
To be sure, you have to use some caution while doing this because going overboard may stress you plant out too much.
It gets easier and more intuitive the more grows you have under your belt.
This weekend, I'll do one more minor touch up to make sure light is really penetrating through
And then I won't do anything else till the end of the grow.
