Unwanted mushrooms growing in potting soil

Hi All,

Whats the safest way to get rid of the mushrooms growing in my potting mix?

Is an army of earthworms able to take out this problem at the root (lol).

I guess my biggest concern is that it doesn't spread to other plants or cause yield issues (both in the mushrooms themselves and the treatment options).

Yeah I had some growing as well but it's not a problem.

They can even bind to the roots.

Leave them alone, it is a sign of healthy soil microbes, bacteria and a strong rhizosphere.

Thats cool and all that but my wife and child are allergic to Mushrooms so I'd rather not risk the spores flying about..
My wife has reactions to it even if she doesn't ingest it.

If they get a reaction from spores you gotta act instantly as they pop quickly.
Just pluck em with a plastic bag.

And maybe humidity is a bit high in the grow room? if you get it a bit lower they won't show themselves anymore on top.
As for the stuff in the pot maybe earthworms would work? as soil invertebrates do like mycelium.

I see that it's a good reason, but still need more info. Did you put myco in the pot on purpose? Or was this a fungi that hitched in with the soil .... Some soil mixes add myco. What are you growing in? You might need to try a different sort of medium.

If they are little yellow ones, they are probably Leucocoprinus Birnbaumii. Very common in house plants and potting soil all over the world. Harmless to plants but mildly toxic so don't eat 'em!
