Vortex In-Line fan filter question

Hi all, im new to indoor harvesting and have all my materials ready to go. My question is:
The guy at the shop told me that these 6" vortex fans can't have a carbon filter hooked up to it and if i did then the thing would just shut down. Is this true? He said its a common problem with this Vortex.

I will post pictures of my build while I work on it but i just wanted others to clarify if this is true. Thanks guys and wish me luck.

You have to keep in mind that depending on the size of the carbon filter the air pressure drops.

if you have a 600CFM filter, you need to get 25% more CFM on the fan as a rule of thumb I been told.
