Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 August, 2007 : - - Walgrove Inustries is a project first conceived almost 5 years ago. We are a new grassroots, apparel company manufacturing and selling printed t-shirts using an environmentally friendly hemp/cotton blend shirt.
Currently we are donating $1 of every online sale to SurfAid International, a phenomenal organization dedicated to eradicating malaria and other diseases in Indonesia. SurfAid were also first responders after the devastating Tsunami in that region.
Our hemp* T-shirts are different from traditional cotton t-shirts. The hemp fibers give the shirts a raw, silk like feel. In addition, the fibers are stronger than traditional cotton and will outlast most cotton if cared for properly. By purchasing our apparel you are wearing alternative fabrics that require less pesticides and petroleum based processing and helping to contribute to the well being of the planet.
*Our clothing is made partially from hemp fiber. Hemp is not Marijuana though the US Drug Enforcement Agency classifies the two forms of Cannabis as the same species. Hemp contains almost 0% THC which is the active drug in Marijuana. WI neither advocates for nor condemns the use of Marijuana. Our advocacy of industrial hemp is solely based on the plant’s earth sustaining properties.
