Water Bulb Plant Minders?

Done a bunch of searching but can't find this question/answer anywhere.

Does anyone have experience with water bulbs? They are these things you stick into the soil of the plant and fill the bulb on top with water and they slowly release water as needed into the plant. When the bulb is empty you just refill it. Here's an example:

I am growing indoors in large pots about 12" diameter, 18" deep.
Has anyone used these?
Pros and cons?

Ummm, I would guess you may need 10-20 per pot after some growth?

Maybe if you had to leave your grow for a few days?

I use 7 to 15 gallon air pots and feed daily.. so that would be a whole lot of filling of bulbs..

They do look cute though.

To me this sounds like it would not work too well. I like to let my soil get fairly to very dry before i water/feed. It would seem having constantly wet soil could lead to root/stem rot.
