Year old leftover soil from last grow - chuck or use?

I have some leftover soil from my last grow, about a gallon or two. It doesn't smell moldy or anything, but it doesn't smell fresh lol.

Should I chuck it or use it for my next grow?

I have reused soil before adding garden lime to get the ph back. And didn’t have any problems but I was told why risk it when soil is inexpensive? So maybe it’s just a question of is it worth trying to save the money when it could potentially make problems? Happy growing. CL
