Just wondering if anyone has tried using zip ties in place of duct clamps to secure ducting to lights, fans, etc?

Never tried it but I imagine it would be a pain in the a$$ to remove with puncturing your ducting. Imo ducting clamps would probably give you a tighter fit too.

Yeah, just stick to the clamps. Sometimes cumbersome, but easier to remove if need be.

We have used zip ties when attaching ducting to our DE lights. We hang the lights, put a zip tie on the flange, slide the ducting over the flange, slide the zip tie over the connected ducting and pull hard to get a tight seal. Simple. Hose clamps required us to be up on a ladder with a drill that got knocked over too many times and created a safety issue of going up and down the ladder many times vs. once.
We always use zip ties. You can buy a special tool that tightens the zip strip and it will be as tight as a duct clamp.
