So i found an old 300w lamp and im wondering if this would be sufficient as extra supplement lighting. Its bigger than the cheap ones ive seen on ebay and other sites and although Ive heard you shouldnt use incandescents this particular lamp is very big and very bright. It also produces quite a bit of heat but i will have proper ventilation and wont let my plants burn to death. If anyone has any knowledge of using these please let me know it is much appreciated! I also have a 150w hps and many quality seeds on the way and with my closet setup ready ill hopefully be growing and starting my own journal soon! ;)

Incandescent bulbs are about 98% efficient... when used as a heater. When you're using them for light, they're about 2% efficient.

Depending on your electric rate, you could probably buy a 300W grow light for what you'll spend running that old thing through one grow.
