She enjoyed the flush it seems..

23 Dec - Day 43 of flower, so she's been flowering for exactly 6 weeks now

There's a little nute burn happening (more evident in yesterdays pics - where you'll see the tips of the leaves slightly burned) ... Still, my baby is looking good and her bounty is getting fatter and more crystallized by the day.

This is my first "Critical+ Cheese" grow... the general information from Dinafem says it takes about 60 days to complete its flowering.. based on that, the 10th of Jan should be harvest day (60 days since I flipped the lights).

Bear in mind that this strain is a hybrid of Sativa and Indica (Indica dominant though). Given the general thoughts that Indica is usually a 8 week flower while Sativa is usually a 10 week flower and hybrids are normally therefore around 9 weeks. 60 days = 8.5 weeks, which sounds about right for this plant.

So my plan is to convert the nutes to General Hydroponics Ripen today (no more Grow/Micro/Bloom), run that for the recommended 10 days, which would get me to the 2nd of Jan.

Then on the 3rd of Jan, do a flush and let her ride out the rest of her days (7 or so) on pure pH'd H2O until harvest... which would be the 10th of Jan (day 60)... providing of course that the trichomes play along (so give or take a day or two).

What do you guys think?

After doing some more research on GH Ripen product, as it pertains to weed, I think I need to change my plan.
The previous plan would risk losing out on yield by forcing the plant to ripen too soon...

Apparently you don't normally need to flush at all after using Ripen (though I will anyway), and you don't need to use it for more than 7 days when it comes to weed, and the plant will all but be dead by the end of it.

So, I'm rather going to do the following...

On the 1st of Jan (10 days prior to the "expected" harvest date):

- I'll flush out the existing nutes in the res and drain
- Mix up a dose of GH Ripen (@5ml/L) and adjust pH accordingly
- Add this new tea to the res as a "once off" feed (ie. you don't keep adding Ripen to top-ups)
- Let the plant feed off that tea for 7 days (only topping up with H2O when needed - PPM will obviously keep dropping, which is a good thing)
- After this 7 days, I will flush and drain again and add plain H2O back to the res (not pH adjusted) for the last 3 days (forcing the plant to consume whatever left-over ripen nutes it has stored).

Good info blueneon, I’m taking notes lol. What kind of ripening formula from GH do you use? I got the dry koolbloom, it’s a ripening formula and was recommended to me by another dwc grower. I was just wondering if that’s what your using.✌️

Im using GH's actual "Ripen" product. Its similar to Koolbloom, but way more designed as a final accelerant and finisher. It's their best selling product! Which is why I figured I'd give it a go (their flora series for the rest of the growing has never disappointed me). Google it and get some to help you with that last fattening up when you're 10 days away from chopping your Mrs. Chem!

Well I've had to delay the plan to switch to Ripen, she's decided to do another pistal push (lots of new white pistals have arrived), so she's definitely not done putting on weight yet and I'm certainly not going to rush her.. Will give it another week and see..

Side note:

This clone was the one chosen from all the clones taken from the mother and is starting to grow well. It was a monster crop (thus you'll see some pistils). Its also been converted to outdoor soil grow and will of course revert to veg state soon. I'll likely end up recloning her again, back into the DWC when the time is right.

Ok lol, so I took a long hard look at various buds and I'm seeing some cloudy trichomes already (in spite of the fact that she still seems to want to grow)...

So rather than being greedy, I decided bugger it, time to start the Ripen! So I've drained the res and added the new tea (Ripen only).

Will run the Ripen for 7 days or so then flush until I start to see signs of amber trichomes, then harvest. Yay!
