Cree CXB3590 vs 315w cmh

I'm 3/4 through my first grow, and currently using a Mars 2 400w in conjunction with the mars 300w. I wanted to compare/upgrade the mars set up with either 4 cxb3590, or 315w CMH.

I'm a little on the fence between the two. I've seen some pretty great results with the 315 but a little worried about temps during the summer. I've heard the cob 3590s are awesome too but haven't I can't seem to find results from a 4x 3590 setup.

Btw I'm growing in 2.5x2.5x5.5 tent

Thoughts, opinions, and why, would be a big help.

And of course a photo because I hate looking at a new thread without at least one picture .

there are several journals including mine where members have just 4 cobs. I started in same tent as yours, 4 citizens, decided to add some red via osrams with 2 more units. I have no doubt in a 5 sq foot tent that 4 cobs would be enough...it's a LOT of light when running at max.

fwiw, I ran a cfl while running cobs just to be safe bc I was worried. Seriously, it's a lot of light.

My temps dropped from running cobs by about 3 degrees when I replaced a '300'w led.

I will also add you gain some headroom in the tent bc your running without a hood. Might save a few pennies in veg if you set up cobs where you can dim them.

I grow in a 2x2x6 with 4-cxb3590 3500k 36v hlg-285h-c2400b mw driver. I have used it for two years and it is great. I used to use a 600w hps in a 3x3 with four plants. I get the same output with the 4 cxbs.
However, I have added additional deep red 1 hour am and far red pm 30 min. for sunrise/sunset effect. I also have a diamond xl 450 and I am using the cxbs for now. Hope that helps.
I am also looking at chilledgrowlights.com with their new kits and low power high production with his Gen2 engine. His Gen1 engine equaled 800w cxb with his 650w

Yeah but like you said you added a bunch of stuff, I would like to see what just 4 3500k 90cri vero29s can do

Only thing I added was 2 additional red COBs, totaling 48watts.

I think you could run those vero29 in that small of a tent at about 20% veg and maybe 50% bloom

That was not the point. The point was using a 3590 36v at 1400mA for 50w is great. Using a 3590 36v at 700mA is even greater. 3.32 micomoles/watt
Thanks Captain Obvious but I understant that too. My point though (which I'm allowed to make also) was to the comment about it blowing up if it were at 2400mA which the chip can handle. .

I'm just wanting to know can they rock 2100ma and be perfectly fine giving a good heatsink
All day long. In the past I have ran 3590's at 2100mA for 2 whole auto grows at 18/6 light the whole time. Never burned a single chip and still use them today. Good heatsinks and they still stay VERY cool at 2.1 amps.
Just to punish a chip I put it on a homemade active sink and ran it for 6 hours at 3200mA without a hiccup. They are just nowhere near as efficient at 3000mA as they are at 1050mA.
The 3590 is a 137 watt chip. Just multiply volts times amps to get watts. Example is 36v x 2000ma so 36x2.0=72 watts.
