Durban Poison Micro Grow

Starting a micro grow of a Durban Poison strain from CKS. I have grown it before, a bit skeptical on the genetics. It appears to have a lot of Indica traits, but as it matures the leaves start to take on a more classic Sativa shape.

The picture was taken two weeks from when it sprouted. Currently under veg under my kitchen table <lol>. I only have a small cabinet grow box and it is currently flowering a White Widow strain. I will keep it going for another month and hopefully by then the Widow will have finished and will move it over to the cabinet.

The seedling is in a 2 gallon fabric pot with a mixture of Ocean Forest soil with a couple cups of worm castings added along with extra perlite. Added a couple tablespoons of Gaia green Power Bloom to the bottom and sides. I have since stumbled upon the Mega Crop thread and will switch to these nutes after the Ocean Forest runs out of steam.

Typically when i plant a seed I will create a plug of about 2" x 3" of seedling mix so the roots don't burn. The seedling is really starting to take off.

The lighting I am using is a small 70 watt full spectrum LED fixture. It is a great light but only for a micro grow as it isn't very powerful wattage wise, but for starting seedlings and vegetation with one plant it will be fine.

Once it hits a 4th node in growth I will fim it.

Week three. Watering with a 150 ppm solution of Kelp Meal. Think it's coots recipe, dried kelp meal that's hydrated and stored in the refrigerator. I use a good heaping teaspoon per liter of water and let sit over night. Growth really took off last week, suspect the roots have migrated out of the area that I created around the seedling with a seedling mix and the roots are now moving into the enhanced Ocean Forest soil.

Fimmed the top two days ago.

Week Four. Pinched the main stalk and tied it down with a coat hanger. Growth is really taking off, another two weeks before I can move it to my grow cabinet.

Week five. Really need to get it into the grow cabinet, but the White Widow needs a couple more days before harvest. Still wonder about the genetics, sure doesn't appear to have a lot of Sativa traits. Going to start feeding with MegaCrop, I think the Ocean Forest soil nutrients are probably starting to exhaust. Will use the normal veg rate and increase accordingly.

Week 6. Really need to get it into the grow box. White Widow is in day 2 of drying, so hopefully by the weekend I will have it under a scrog net and trim it up a bit. Noticing some dying of of the older large fan leaves. Upping the Mega crop nutrient mix a bit. Think the Ocean Forest mix has run out of steam. Hope the issue isn't from the mega crop as the issue popped up about 4 or 5 days after the first mega crop feeding. Coincidence?

The new growth at the top is starting to show some Sativa like traits which is good.

Quite impressed by the little LED light, amazing how plants respond under it.

Week 7

Moved the plant into my micro grow cabinet. Did a bit of trimming of the yellowing old fan leaves. Will give it a week of the cabinet light to adjust and then flip to 12/12.

Some info on the cabinet for those interested. It is a re purposed cabinet that was hacked quiet a bit and modified. Sits on my balcony and fairly discreet, a little bit of light creep but nothing to worry about. Quite small as it's only about 32" high x 16"deep x 15" wide.

The picture of the back shows the carbon canister and inline fan. I am using a re purposed Neptune aquarium controller to control all the electrics. It is great as it's programmable and can be accessed from the cloud.

Monitor temps of the interior and exterior.
Depending on temperature I control the on and off of carbon filter fan.
Set the recirculating fan on a oscillating schedule that varies depending on the time and temperature
Should the temp rise too high or low alarms can be sent to me, and I shuts down the lights etc.

With the programming capabilities I can do something like turn a heater on when needed, then shut down the vent and turn on the re-circulation fan. Many possibilities. has pH port and it also controls the lighting on the balcony

Lighting is Spider Farm quantum board.

I created a scrog net out of general purpose wire. I wrap the stalks in and around to keep the height down. When harvest I just cut the wire and harvest.

Day 15 of flower. Did some pruning of the lower leaves. Starting to stretch so I loop in and out of the scrog net as it stretches. Looks a little droopy/wilted as it was just watered. I am just using Mega-crop at the recommended ppm every watering about every 3 days. Have some Kelp Meal that I think i will top dress with.

Day 35 and looks like a bit of a setback, or perhaps the yellowing leaves are just the natural course of mid flower?. The leaves do have a downward crawl to them. Overwatering, a toxicity or deficiency. Using Mega crop at the recommended rates.?
