Need info on lightning

How does the lighting work for indoor plants. Do I keep the light on during the day and off durning the night? I'm completely new at this shit.

18 hours light 6 hours dark...but u should really look into it more. Because some plants can have more light some can't. How close are the lights too the plant....do u have proper cooling (fans..etc). Are u using Cfl's or simple grow light......so many other tangents i could go on.....

and you cant let any extra light get in during the dark time in budding. i recomend a $3.00 timer from home dePOT
