Re: 1st time grow-Shiva Skunk - Advice Please

gave nuts and epsom mist today... kept the lights at a distance for the mist...

i might flip it soon... just wana get some more growth going first....no rush

any ideas on how to get the small top to grow faster?

debating if i need to scrog... or just let all the shoots grow up..... taking off all the fan leaves that block light from the small shoots...

also are my lights too close or far? i had them a bit further before but felt like it was wasting light

Re: 1st time grow-Shiva Skunk - Advice Please

I've seen a few guys doing the same thing as you.. very nice fluxing work by the way!

When they have a smaller top, they will use LST to tie down the bigger tops at a lower level than their smaller top, to let that one become more dominant, and will help increase the size usually.

For using CFLs your lights are fine, and can actually move up to 2.5cm/ 1" away from the plant without burning them. Just always make sure that leaves do not touch the bulbs, it will dry out the leaf and kill it in just a few hours. Even if only part of the leaf touches the bulb, it will dry out and kill that part of the leaf. (This happened to me before)

Otherwise, the plant looks amazing. You're doing a really good job!

Thanks Antics! :Namaste:

one day i had some relatives come over so i had to pull the plug on the lights since the family wanted to see the new place...once they left the room i plugged it back in but i didnt check the setup... i had put some things to cover the area.. so 3 hours later when they left and ii checked it... it had direct contact with leaves (older ones)... so yeah first hand experience of it too... i was so pissed... crazy how fast it fucked it up......

one thing i feel is its slow progress for about a month and a half... but i guess its since im playing with it so much....

thanks again

overall pics....easily more then 10 tops.... some are still lower then the green line but i going to give them some time.. if they dont grow soon im going to clone.. just to try it out.. iv read that trying to create clones from a flowering plant can cause crazy things to happen.. im curious....

before i cleaned it up

Re: 1st time grow-Shiva Skunk - Advice Please

Thanks guys will see what happens....

some developing situations:

i was just admiring my plant turning it when i noticed a MUSHROOM...... from what i read its a sign that the soil is well balanced or its shitty soil... but i know its not shitty its organic guano soil and this stuff happens in organic soil....... i read its a sign of good Mycelium situations..(i need to read more)

There is usually nutrient cycling occurring between plants & mushrooms. (in the wild)

reading more it seems that its also a cause of high humidity which i know i have been dealing with... since at times the closer leaves of each branch are touching each other and overlapping.. creating moister and wet spots.....

after reading this i take a closer look at each leaf cause high humidity causes other problems.... and i found 3 white small circles on just 1 leaf... reading about this i learn its mold starting to happen... since its humid...

so im dealing with high humidity... since i caught it realy early im able to fix this problem....

my solution.... i know im in flower but its only been about a week.. so im not to worried about trimming it.... if it was later in the cycle i would... so i have trimmed it one last time... and placed my fan abit further away and keeping the front lid off.... so theres more circulation.....

the mushroom is still there... i want to know if i should take it out.... anyone have any experience with this... i find this so bizzare but it seems to be not that unusual.....

Re: 1st time grow-Shiva Skunk - Advice Please

I can't advise you on defoliation yet, since I just started learning about it myself. But something that might help a little is how I LST. I turn the pots, looking at the plants from all angles, on the side to see how branches are growing, angled down view to look at branch angle and light penetration, and from above, and it gives me a good idea what I need to tie down/move around.

It might help you out in deciding which sites to defoliate first.

But to me? I think those earlier pictures looked really nice, but after seeing your defoliation work, it looks even better. It looks to me like you know your stuff and have a solid grasp on defoliation. :goodjob:

its going well ovr all.....had some heavy light burn on two small side branches from the shortr side.....about a day in shock i feel......some other leaves got burned.... not too much......

i cut the burnt branches and some trim.....in the end it feels like it was for the best...since it small branches taking energy....

mushroom died do to the trim and humidity drop......plus when i waterd the rush bent it over....

up to date images
