480W & 720W LED Grow - Land of Clovers

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

it'd be great if you could see bout getting me hooked up with some your old spectras, now that you mentioned it tho i'm thinking maybe i should c bout one of the old 300's instead of a pair of smaller lights-i do want to be able to go seperate roms but, after saving money on meds from a 300 thatd give a savings of enough to get a smaller light for seed production at a later date--the last time i contacted mike i was going to c if i could be on hold for some used 1's when they became available,so i dont keep messaging him but after asking some other questions i forgot to ask bout that

if you do get them take care of my baby's i love these lights and as you can see they grow murder! it will be a while when the 360w leds are gone. might do another grow with these ones before getting rid of them, its allot of money to fun that big room for Mike and i know he has other things that cost money that are more important. and i also want to do a grow with the new lights to see if i want to swap them out 1st. i am really hooked on these old ones and they meet my needs just find. all i know is my plain to do all quality over yield was a great move because these plants are just crazy frosty, i love leds and organics!!!!!

Hey IrishBoy,

I have to say that I have been reading your threads for like the past week(including that spat you had last night with Scott)LOL. You have some awsome info, and I thank you for sharing all that good info!

Welp Im getting ready to do my first grow indoors whice I have never done before and I am forced to grow in the attic with no vents from the outside, But it is finsihed off. I might cut a hole from a room in the closet right under the grow area to pull cool fresh air in. I want to go LED because I dont want the heat that HID gives off and of course the power draw is why less.

My question is I would like to have 6 plants in flower at a time, do you think I could get away with just 2 of the GLH 280? Thanks!

welcome my friend. sorry about that deal last night if it offended you or gave you the wrong impression about me? i try to look out for newbies and other growers and make sure everyone get the truth.

6 normal size plants yes i think you will be fine. its a hard question to ask because so many things change this kinda like how i LST my plants and grow them 3'+... but i am sure your going to keep them smaller like normal and i think two 280's will be a more then great match. i would 100% for sure make a way for fresh air to come in, its very very important for the plants. exhausting air is ideal also but fresh air is #1 key. any questions please feel free to ask.

if you tell Mike how you follow my threads now he was offering a discount for these members on the lights, not sure what it is but i would mention you seen this offer in my thread and see what he says. let me know what you decided? i like the option of the two 280's because you can adjust light for little plants and add the other one when needed to save on power and use less heat.
Just cruising through for the bud porn!

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Thanks! Yeah that whole thing last night was getting outa hand, but I liked how you stood your ground and made your points very clear. Now if I hadnt read any of your other threads I probably would have thought these guys are Ass holes and moved on but thats not the case. Like you were saying last night you have grows to prove it and I think that speaks a lot louder than words can.

I will get in contact with mike and for sure say something about your thread. I think that one guy said that he offered free shipping whice is awesome.

So what your were saying is start off with one light in the Veg stage and then add the other as needed when they get bigger? I like that idea alot, because I wasnt quite sure what I was going to veg with light wise. In michigan you are only allowed to have 12 plants and Im trying to get some info to see if clones are included in that number. If thats the case (whice i think that it is) im going to do 6 clones and 6 flower at a time.

Thanks again and Im sure that once I get started I will have more questions.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Thanks Sun for that. Also, even though you only got 16 g's more, your 400 watter was drawing more than 400 watts, probably closer to 435-450 watts vs 360 from the spectra. Thats 20% less power used to make basically the same amount. It all adds up!

I agree, it does add up.

thanks for the kind words and understanding where i was coming from.

unless you need the foot print? when the girls are young their is no need for both lights running in order to make them grow, these lights are strong and if too much or too close to the plants it will cause trouble. i like to start out at 30"-36" at 1st with my single 300w older model, these brand new ones are said to be crazy bright, so be careful. these lights will veg and flower all in one unit.

now as far as the 12 plants in your area i am not sure of those law that apply with you, but i would find out for sure, go by the rules and have no trouble.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

SS, thanks for those pics. I didn't realize mag ballasts draw that much more than the digitals. Either way, seeing the actual numbers really goes a long way to show how much more efficient LED's are.

So between heat and energy savings, over the long term, LED's in the hands of an experienced, open minded grower are gonna win hands down.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

yw og ;)

there's a learning curve to growing with LED's, like everything else, but once you dial things in, if they perform like my Spectra does, I would agree.

The difference between 360w, and 425w, or 514w for the many still using mag ballasts, isn't small or insignificant.

154w? There's my veg light ;)

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Lol that sugar leaf man, talk about a hash plant. Eventually we will use every part of the thc coated plants of the future... Just like the indians to there buffalo:)

Irish (and SS) thanks again for both the detailed grows and for helping cut through the BS. At the end of the day if you go with enough LED light to do it right you will drop some serious coin. With that in mind, Mike may or may not have the best out there, but i feel more comfortable knowing he has a ton of PROVEN success. If someone with deeper pockets than mine wants to experiment than GREAT! In the mean time i will invest in what I feel will safely work. I also like the fact that Mike participates here. To me that says he knows if he screws one of us it will be all over the place, and since he clearly cares i think he would take that very seriously. I'm still about 6 weeks from launch, but Mike will be talking to me soon. Thanks again guys!

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Here is a grow done by 420 magazine and a great grower Setting Sun

300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

So their are savings. I always said that watt for watt my panels would out yield HPS by 20% to 30% and with little radiant heat, much easier heat management and always higher quality.

To medicine21,

Their are saving with LED's you just really have to ready and educate yourself on them. I would really recommend you read the link I just posted.

Yes, I have read this thread. It is the best side-by-side that I have seen. Huge props to SS.

Mike, your support and participation in the forum discussion is much appreciated and with supporting grow evidence is surely doing wonders for your business.

HOW MUCH POWER AM I PAYING FOR, AND HOW MUCH WILL THAT YIELD ME.

Agreed, quality g/W is what we are after and LED's look like the ticket.

That's very interesting, SS. Do you think it is reasonable to assume that a 1000W on a magnetic ballast actually draws 1285W?

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

lol very nice i love the crown colas.
looks wicked, i like it also, their pushing out all they can to fatten up

its a learning curve like all things, but i wouldn't trade in my GLH lights, because they suite my needs just fine. and even some of my HPS friends, their going to switch because they like my girls from these lights. most of them hated led and made fun of me for using them.

amen.
ya thats how i see it 154w thats my vegging, i still try to keep the power.

my plant dosent go to waste, give all the stuff to a friend for the trimming help and he makes has or butter, too much frost to toss out, the stems are even frosted up

i couldn't tell you if they are the best ones or not for sure, but the best ive seen so far on the forums and like you said their proven with every grower happy with them, and your right since Mike is on these forums he would have to deal with any problems out in the open. most other company's i see on the claims are just crazy BS lies and misleading claims and make me worry that growers are going to buy them and give leds a bad name again. the right leds grow amazing dank

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

This thread is definitely a must read for anyone considering an LED light. +reps when I can again to everyone. :adore:

I do like my CMHs, but if I ever buy another light, it will most likely be one of Mike's GLHs. ;)

thanks buddy. all kinds of lights work great and the grower has the biggest take on how things turn out. but if going the leds way i would really really consider looking into GLH. the most tested and proven led light out.
Best review and best info on LED is a while, lol.
I like it when I lurk onto "great conversation".
thanks bro, stop by more often usually some good info cracking on here.
