Aeroponics: Questions, Answers, Information

Re: Aeroponics: Questions/ Answers/ Information

Hey alright I'll join in too!

Dewey offers great products that are ready to grow, that you can use in your own diy or even in other brands of cloners.

Aside from the misters Dewey offers inserts that take the place of neoprene. They can be sterilized easily and used over and over again. I cannot wait to pick some up. PW says seeds can be started in them too with a little piece or grow media if the seed is too small.

One thing I've learned is that the two prong air pump I use will work for cloning purposes but may not be strong enough for flower. For flowering I definitely recommend a commercial pump as it creates more DO levels. I put an airline splitter in with a valve and now have it bubbling a bit more then it was. The roots have taken off since! I'm flowering in a 2gal bucket I use for cloning and the roots are all up in the water. They seem to be very happy and growth is looking gorgeous.

Here are some clones roots before being put into coco.

Here are my flowering plants roots. I'll take some current pics soon as they have gotten bigger and sit in the rez.

Plants are all looking happy and healthy. Loving the Dewey setup!
Oh wow that's insane

Re: Aeroponics: Questions/ Answers/ Information

I have another splitter coming with 8 outlets so i can run 4 buckets. Eventually i'll have 1 cloner, 2 veg and 4 flower buckets. Ill harvest 1 plant every 4 weeks on a perpetual basis.
Outstanding omg. You have really kicked it into high gear here Pennywise

Re: Aeroponics: Questions/ Answers/ Information

Actually my setup is each bucket is independant with between 1
Gallon and 1 1/2 gallons of nute solution in each bucket. Im using Dewey Misters which are tubes with a plastic airline fitting at the bottom of the tube. Just above that there is a small hole in the tube, you run an airline from a commercial air pump to the mister in the bucket. As air rushes up the tube it picks up water and atomizes it and sprays the roots with oxygenated nutrient solution.

2 mister tubes. Its that simple.

Are those mister tubes sold separately? So you're saying I could disconnect one of my air stones (have 2 in each bucket) and replace with a mister?

Lone star I'd like to add that you need a strong pump to run these guys properly. A normal aquarium pump may not suffice. I'm using an eco 2 air pump and that's only strong enough to clone. A commercial air pump will agitate the water more which is better for the longer roots of a flowering plant as the roots will eventually hit the water. I see Dewey as a aero/dwc hybrid in that way. I'd hate for you to pick up some deweys and be displeased, I've seen some people with issues but it's just they are using too small of an air pump. I think you have a commercial pump already but just wanted to make sure. So far pw and I are getting great results with these misters. The aero game has been changed!

I am running six large air stones off of this one pump, two into each 5gal bucket and two into my reservoir. Is it necessary for my reservoir to have air stones in it? Or can I take those two airlines and replace the stones with misters, and put them in my 5gal?

I want to build a recirc aero very soon! If it was me I'd have at least one stone in the rez but it may not be needed as the Dewey creates a lot of turbulence in the water with the right pump. I'd be worried nutrients would fall out of suspension though.

Please check out my journal, and watch the short video of my RDWC. Do you think the return causes enough turbulence to take the air stones out of the rez? If I could free up two airlines instead of buying a new pump, I'd prefer that. But if buying a small pump to run the misters is necessary, than so be it. But it definitely looks like I'll be making this upgrade to my system before the babies get transferred... And I'm not 100% sure what you mean by the nutes "falling out of suspension"
