Wilmington city councilwoman Stephanie Bolden's opponent in next month's Democratic primary is a man who was once profiled by the campaign she created to embarrass drug offenders.

Richard Dyton was charged with possession of marijuana in 2006, and was one of the offenders whose mug shot was posted on the city Web site under the Drug Mugs program that Bolden launched four years ago.

Dyton says he wants to use the program and his appearance in it against Bolden. He says the program doesn't deter addicts and only brings shame to their loved ones.

He says he was charged after the small bag of pot was found on the floor of his barber shop after police investigated a scuffle there between a bounty hunter and a fugitive. The police report says the bag was in Dyton's pocket.
