This is my first grow, they sprouted on 12/7. I am worried that I am under watering them I usually water every 2 days. Lately the soil is getting very crusty and dry should i water them more?

They looks like mine after 2-3 days from sprout. Right now mine are just over 2 weeks old (sprouted 2019-18-9) and already growing their 5th set of leaves. This is usual.. dunno whats wrong man. First post btw

Hey Stinky,
When do you start feeding? Looking at that photo right before of those little guys, do they need food after two weeks if they’re not growing too much?

I have been growing mine for 18 days and they are 20 times bigger than these.

They don't look to shabby for a few weeks of age. Mine are that size by the first week, but at least they look decently healthy.

You do want a good wet dry cycle, but it's really BAD if you let your soil dry out to much before watering. If your soil is to dry most of your water will run right through instantly. Your soil wont hold as much moisture as it should.

I grow with CFl's a lot and have never bothered with 5000k in veg. I can say I tried them once but didn't get the growth I wanted and was used to. I would use 1 x 2700k and 4 x 6500k in my veg box. I did however find a use for my 5000k bulbs. I use them in the last few weeks of flowering, and it seems to help a little with size. Not anything to write home about but I did go hmm on my last grow. So I will be using them again late in flowering next time.

The only other thing I would recommend you do is kill the 24 / 0 light schedule with a massive axe. 24 / 0 is excellent for clones or the first few days of veg but thats it. If you must pump them with so much light at least go with 20 / 4 instead. It will promote better root growth. Thats probably the biggest reason why your two week plants are the size of my less then 1 weekers on an average grow.

Anyways over all good job! Keep up the good work. :goodjob:
I understood half of that so I will check back in on a month and see if more makes sense and mine is not far of the size of yours for just over a week old so I am growing at the same rate as you roughly and I light mine 12/12 all natural so far ak 48 fem.

Hey Chris,

Welcome to 420. Its totally cool because yiu didn’t know but….. it’s an old thread from 2010 that has been rehashed several times, looks like the OP hasn’t logged on in years. The dates can be found in the green title bar above each post. All the 5000k talk is in reference to kelvin or the light spectrum of the bulb.

Hmm 12/12 you say? Ok but if it’s a photoperiod this will force flower before the plants are mature and yields will be small, if it’s an auto then you are missing significant growth / yields by not running 18/6. Typically it’s best to veg a photoperiod at 18/6 for 6 weeks or so to build a good plant structure and then flip to 12/12 for flower. Autos you don’t have control over when they begin to flower but most run 18/6 from start up all the way to harvest.

Anyway just wanted to let you know since those others won’t respond….. Do you have a grow journal started? It’s easy to get one slammed down. How to make a grow journal

peace out!
