Enclosing CFL's in plastic tubing?!

Alright Guys, bear with me on this please, thinking out loud really
But i have a small tent (0.6mx0.6mx1.4m) and I have got 4 x 125W CFL's(2 red/2blue) in there. 2 horizantal under some hammered alu sheet on EZ rollers and 2 vertical hanging in the centre , now the ones hanging in the centre will eventually have plant leaves growing too close to them! so my question is can I enclose the 2 hanging vertically in plastic tube so the plant can grow and touch the plastic tube and not the actual light and not get burnt?!

:( DOH there goes that idea, but thanks for the confirmation :)
Anything else i can do, apart from moving the CFL's out the way(if I can) and hoping the plants dont touch 'em!?

Thanks.

Sorry to bump up, but i thought of another quick question while i was here:
the tent is for flowering so should I have the red bulbs horizontal above the plants and the
blues hanging vertical by the sides of the plant or the other way around?
