Hey everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I actually stumbled onto this website, and to be quite honest I'm amazed at the amount of information available here.
When I was younger I experimented with the mostly sticks and stems pot that I'm sure a lot of us were familiar with at one point. I mostly was interested in it then as a kind of teen-angst related rebellion type of thing, and I lost interest with it pretty quickly and went on to doing other things.
I did four years with the Marines in the infantry, and never bothered to learn anything about MJ because of the ever present danger of a urinalysis and certain discharge if caught. The military offered me some cool life experiences, but I came out of the Marines with a torn up knee, tinnitus (ringing in ears), marked hearing loss, PTSD, and some anger management problems as well. I also ended up with some pretty awesome things from my time in the service like my really awesome wife, a little baby boy that looks exactly like me but acts like his mom , and a GI Bill that I plan to use so that I can study Biology and hopefully get accepted into med school.
Since I've been out of the military I've been dividing my time between working as a medical assistant in a clinic (with medical training from the Marines), and working as a Skydiving Instructor on the weekends. My interest in Medicine, and my connections with some people who are more, uh, free-spirited (skydivers) inevitably ended up with me being re-introduced to cannabis. Needless to say this wasn't the kind that I remembered from back in the day.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm really interested to see that there is such a large adult base that is interested in learning more about cannabis in a mature way. I hope that I can get to know a lot of you, and learn more about this plant myself. Maybe one day if I earn my MD I'll be able to devote some time to MMJ research, especially considering how much progress there is towards making it legal.
Take care everyone, see you around on the boards!
