First Grow — Difficult Scenario

After 20-something years of smoking, I've decided that I want to take the plunge and grow my own. Mostly because I've moved to a new town (Bournemouth) and almost every dealer I have found so far has been rubbish.

I want to start with a single plant from seed and for my trial run, I want to keep setup cost to a minimum because I'm bound to get lots wrong and having just lost my job, finances are tight.

I've done a fair bit of research on growing systems and strains etc. but I'm struggling to find information that suits my needs. That's where you (hopefully) come in.

Here's why my scenario is difficult:
- No garden (1st floor)
- Very small studio flat (it's basically going to have to be in my living room/bedroom/kitchen because they are the same room)
- It can get VERY cold due to knackered windows and inefficient heating

The good news is that apart from a flat inspection every six months, I get no visitors so I don't need to hide it.

Research aside, I've never grown before so my knowledge is still very limited so any advice at all would be appreciated. Also, nearly all of my research has been gleaned from websites selling growing equipment so their advice on what to buy isn't exactly impartial.

I don't see any real obstacles with your situation-I give you the all clear to grow!

I would enclose a small space or buy a grow tent for a quiet corner of the room. You will need to heat the space at times. An appropriate type heater can run on its own thermostat in the space. You will need to buy the basic equipment including lighting, ventilation fans and a carbon filter for the smell, a timer, fertilizer, gardening essentials. Thanks, Weaselcracker. I'll have a look at the link later on the PC (I'm using the iPhone app and links don't seem to work).

In terms of heaters, I was thinking a small tubular heater or even a heated mat like the kind you put in vivariums might do the job if I go for a tent or enclosure of some kind.

Lightning wise, I'm probably going to go LED. If I can find the right colour temperature lamps, I'll use standard GU type fittings rather than overpriced specialist lamps because the manufacturers don't seem to have realised yet that LED technology is now cheap!

2x4 tent Amazon, with a 600 HP's you will be good and won't need a heater especially if you are saying that it is cold. Also
remember grab some cal mag, 5 g smart pot and some fox farm soil you will be good for at least 2 weeks
