First time - Grow lights to use

I am new to growing and wanted to test some lights out before I spend a lot of money on buying them.

Do you guys think it is worth renting before buying them?

You know to get a feel for how they work and not be in the whole for a 1k plus considering how much some led light cost.

Instead research and do some price comparison on different brands. There is shit loads of research material on the web and youtube.

Renting lights never heard of that ?

Cfl, T5 6500 k for germination / veg or MH will be fine.

HPS or dual spectrum types work for flowering those are around 2100 k.


Not sure about led panels just yet but ye they grow weed just fine...


Pro's 'n' Con's ah lots of em...

Led panel Mmm the drivers are the most likely to die more likely after the warranty the whole panel go's down & ya hardly be packing a spare panel ah... a spare hps kicking about is far cheaper & easy to replace.

( not that i'm against led it is just electrical equipment in general, oh it just broke down after warranty feeling if ya know what i mean )

Cost of set up Hood, ballast, contactor's, timer, HPS replacement & electrical cost etc vs 50 k hours of life time of a led panel if it last that long & expected savings that is just another thing to think about !

Stick with what works.

CFL for seedlings / clones
MH for veg
HPS + MH + UVB for flowering

People fear what they do not understand but it need not rule the day

Study up on it if your worried about their validity I did before I bought my first panel.

Yesterday bought a 5th led panel to use in a tent with the two 600w cool tubes

Its prudent to research before you dump money on anything let alone new tech
