Grow light need plug

hi im new to growing marijuana.

i have a 1000wat grow light from ruudlighting. everything is built but doesnt have a plug to plug in at the end. it just has cords coming out the back but it looks like the plug belongs there. i was just wondering do you think its broke, or just need a dryer cord? ?

are speaking about the cord from the light fixture, or from the ballast? 120volts 240? a dryer cord of 16awg or bigger (wire is like golf.. the smaller the number the bigger the score) should be fine.

You can check at your local green shop... lots of them work on lighting fixtures and have parts/cords laying around.

Get a nice thick ext cord, cut it...it has a green white and black wires..match em, twist em wirecap em and plug it in.

Plug from the socket to the ballast or from the ballast to the mains?

Make sure you know what voltage the ballast is wired for. Many are multi-tap and have provisions for up to four different voltages. Most "industrial" and general-use ballasts come with a wiring diagram (often inside the case).
