Harvesting question from a newbie

OK, dumb question: Everyone talks about harvesting when the trichomes tell you the plant is ready. Cure the plant and then chop up the buds and smoke away.
What about the leaves? Not worth smoking since the buds are so much better?
I hate to waste all that greenery......

Bob, there are some people that use every aspect of the plant. I personally use the buds and sugar leaves and throw everything else away. I use the sugar leaves and some bud to make infused oil or salve.

Aha, thanks. Are the sugar leaves the small ones that are around the bud (my buds are just starting for form) and the other leaves are the larger ones on the rest of the plant (that are so pretty)???

Yes the sugar leaves come out of the bud and the fan leaves are the big ones.

So what was I smoking in college 40 years ago? Probably the fan leaves?
Never got much of a high, for sure.

I do the same but I use the fan leaves to make cannagars. I dry ice the sugar leaves and save the trichomes for hash.
