Dear hemp enthusiasts and entrepreneurs:
HempCycle.org has now firmed up its plans to embark on a series of tours with a state-of-the-art hybrid motorcycle fueled by a blend of biodiesel fuel made from hemp and other non-petroleum oils over the next few years. But first we need sponsors! The first 1360 square inches of space on the body of the motorcycle are being offered for the display of your business or organization's logo at the price of $5.16 per square inch. Terms of sponsorship are as follows:
1. HempCycle.org is a non-profit organization, but it does not have a 501c3 tax exemption. The majority of our mission consists of lobbying for industrial hemp legislation and initiatives. Since this is political activity, we do not qualify for tax exempt status from the IRS. Sponsors will have the benefit of writing their sponsorship off as an advertising expense.
2. Sponsors agree to provide a minimum of two weatherproof vinyl decals at their expense in addition to payment of sponsorship. One decal will be displayed on the motorcycle, and the rest will be reserved as backup in the event of cosmetic damage to the motorcycle. Calculation of decal size will be total length multiplied by total width. No adjustments will be made for irregularly shaped decals.
3. The hybrid motorcycle that HempCycle.org will be using for the tours is very new and still in beta testing. Therefore, the first tour will be confined to Michigan, starting on April 5, 2003 and ending on October 1, 2003, in an effort to promote a hemp initiative in our home state.
Once testing is completed, we will begin another 180 day tour in 2004, visiting at least six states per tour, until we've visited each of the 48 states (sorry, Alaska and Hawaii aren't on the list). Tour dates and locations are subject to change.
4. We understand that some sponsors may wish to barter merchandise for a sponsorship instead of paying cash. We are in the process of developing a shopping cart script for our website at www.hempcycle.org for the purpose of selling merchandise to raise money for our tours. We'll also be traveling to various events to sell merchandise. We will accept merchandise in lieu of cash for sponsorships, as long as the retail value of the merchandise is equivalent to the cost of sponsorship.
