How long to show itself?

Is it normal for a plant to take 13 days to poke threw the soil? I put in at about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep.

Is this starting from bare seed ?.

Fresh seeds should germ straight from the packet in 75-100 hrs from planting and the root tip goes upwards. Just plant the ungerminated seeds straight in to the soil at 1/4" (6-7mm) deep and you will be sprouting viable seeds in 3-4 days every time. (I have planted over 500+ seeds and i have a 100% sucess rate).
