Im using fox farms soil adding no nutes just water is this normal?

sure, for the first month or less. Any longer and you need a main NPK nutrient trio line. I personally dont know how long the nutes in that soil last so i cant say for sure. Usually 2 weeks to 1 month is a safe bet.

Fox Farms is hot if I recall reading in the past. New seedling want very little for food. I run on the belief that less is more. I've hurt more plants running hot than running cool.

I just barely am back on here diagnosing but I recall most people started with the FF later as they uppotted. Started out with small stuff in milder stuff... But I forget.
