Las Cruces - Hundreds of bundles of marijuana have been seized by U-S Customs and Border Protection agents in southern New Mexico during the past week.
The first bust happened last Tuesday near Alamogordo when they found 881 bundles of marijuana in a shipment of sodium bentoite -- a natural, nontoxic sealant.
The truck driver -- 37-year-old Ronald Howard Kibble of Oxford, Mississippi -- was arrested.
Agents seized seven large bundles of marijuana last Thursday after following footprints to the top of a mountain in the Lordsburg area. The seven bundles were worth an estimated 269-thousand dollars.
The contraband has been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency in Las Cruces.
