Need advice on flowering my pot plant

I'm new at this and have this plant growing in some soil and its getting big, I've read that you have to do 12/12 cycles for it to start flowering. just want to know if that is correct for a plant in soil and how long before the buds start getting visible and how long to leave the buds before I remove it.

Yeah man that plant will get huge lol. Like he said flowers will start showing in first couple weeks, but could take ten weeks before you can harvest them. Good luck

When you have an area where you can give complete darkness for 12 hours switch your lighting cycle to 12/12 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness to flower your plant.
