Onion tops Falling Early

Hi 420 friends! This year I’ve expanded my vegetable garden quite a bit and am growing onions for the first time in 5gal fabric pots. They were bought as onion sprouts from the garden market and planted May 24 after the last frost. About two weeks ago the shoots started bending over to the point some were tearing.

I threw in some bamboo stakes and twined up supports around them but they are pretty sad looking! It definitely is not underwatering, possibly overwatering as the pots are usually pretty heavy, but not sure. I’ve let them dry out pretty good and they still don’t bounce back. Any advice? Bulbs seem to just be starting to form so they are still growing anyway!

I would take off the twine up supports and let them spread out, onions do just what is happening to you. Here is a pic of my onions tonight and they are just forming bulbs, as you can see they are bending and breaking.
