If you haven't already, pick up a 60x -120x hand held microscope. Eventually you will need it to read the trichomes but in the mean time it is a good way to monitor for bugs. Spec of dirt, live bug and dead bug often look the same to the naked eye. Proper ID is the only way to effectively control pests.

I have had leaf miners crawling around inside the leaves of other plants, always outdoor plants, and usually by the time their tunnel is noticeable they have already gone off to become an adult moth or whatever. Often not worth taking the leaf off since it can stay on and continue providing the photosynthesis. It is a judgement call on how bad the leaves look.
