Plants dont grow the nodes equaly

I usaly top at Third node. But lately many of the plants dont shot the branches and nodes equaly. Its coming 1 on the side and then the other side is an inch further up.

Why is this?

How should I act on this when topping?

are you working with clones or plants from seed? You are describing alternating nodes, which is a sign of maturity.

Thats right I take cuttings now.
I didnt know that that was different.
How do I top when there is alternativ nodes? Like normal?
Use to cut at 3 nodes when theywe reached a total of 6 nodes.

you can still top the tip of each branch and get two... just do it like normal to make a bushy plant

I top the main stem once and then sometimes I top those two new ’stems’
