Mar 28, 2011 #2 D Droopy Dog New Member I root trim my host plants on a regular basis, with a Ka-Bar no less. After a year in the same pot, it's a must to stay in the same size. I had to cut on all sides and the bottom as it was very rootbound, reducing the rootmass by 1/2 or so. If it's not severely rootbound, just remove enough for the fresh mix, there is really no set anything, just a judgement call. The plants never seemed to miss a beat. DD
