Detecting bud rot can you still save the seeds if any?
Seeds: good or bad?

Shouldn't effect the seeds asong as they do the get moldy as well

Yes the seeds of the other buds on the rest of the plant should be fine. I would keep any seeds from the effected area separate. They may or may not be bad. They may still be ok so no need to throw them out. You may need to try them at a later date.
