Greensboro, NC -- Nearly 50 pounds of marijuana could be found scattered along Phillips Avenue in Greensboro around 6:30 Monday evening.

Guilford County Sheriff's deputies say a man who led law enforcement on a chase around northeast Greensboro threw nearly $40,000 worth of marijuana out the window.

Investigators say it started when Darrell Thompson hit an unmarked deputy cruiser then left the scene.

Another deputy gave chase and was led down Phillips Avenue. That's when police say Thompson began throwing bales of marijuana out the window.

Thompson finally stopped near Bywood Road and jumped out. He attempted to hide in a nearby creek, but was found by a police K-9 unit.

He is charged with Resist, Delay, Obstructing an Officer; Assault on a Government Official; 2 counts Felony Flee/Elude Arrest; Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle for a Controlled Substance; 2 counts of Trafficking Marijuana.

what, no littering charge?

there is no shortage of stupid people in this world. if you get caught its gonna be easier if you just take responsibility for your actions. you knew the risks when you made your choices. i'm not saying admit your guilt but running isn't going to work. i would rant but what good would it do.
