To chop or not to chop

How did it work out for you @McTrish ? Your thoughts ?

I can replicate it for the others with ONE , unwashed stem ( cause i don’t like to sacrifice weed ) ...I have a plant to be harvested Monday ...

But , you first :)

I definitely could see that the washed ones puffed up and feel like they will cure better. True test will be when its ready to smoke. The unwashed portion feels limpy in comparison. I never would have tried such a drastic experiment if I wasn't already grossed out by the mold.
Each grow is certainly a learning experience and I have lot more learning to do.

Very curious to hear others experience with the method.

I chopped another plant last night that suddenly developed bananas after 12 weeks flower time. Gods green crack. Wont grow that strain again. Too much effort with not enough gain.

Egads that’s weird ! Never seen bananas before !

bud washing works for so many different reasons it really should be articulated at the end of every grow journal , but opinions and assholes, we all got em . :)

glad to hear you got something for your efforts regardless ! I’m about 2 days out
Can’t wait :)

Too late, I got a few decent colas but rest already decarboxilized. Buds too small to waste time trimming. Will be amazing butter though. This particular plant was ugly from the start. It cascaded down like a hanging plant. Shaggy and neglected. No training. The girl scout cookie got all the love.

I'd wait another week or two for more ambers but I'm a rookie so it's just my opinion. Nice colas though.
Those are pics are of the lower limb ..the tops are cooked to be sure ,I may do a two stage harvest also .
I removed all of her fading leaves so she sure looks like she could keep going from that pic eh ?

24 -48 hours of darkness and cooler temps and I think she will be just right ..I garden with the moon and the 30th is medicinal harvest day ..check out my king tut journal In sig @Regrowth ..and thank you so much for your thoughts !
tomorrow
I could change my mind. Hahaha ..
no hurries. No worries here :ganjamon:

Last plant left in the room. Gods green crack 12 weeks since switching to bud. This plant was slow to go compared to the rest. Its looks like it is starting to plump up finally but I also am seeing some webbing starting i think. Looks too crystally some how. Trichomes pics show webbing starting below trics
The crystals are looking ready but the buds are quite fluffy yet. If I take it down now, it will likely be all for butter. Obviously I can't spray this late and don't want to buy predatory bugs this late either. ( haven't had much luck getting bugs across the border during pandameic)

My thoughts are to try to leave for a another week or 2 and see what happens. Any suggestions?

Hi all

Girl scout cookie, hydroponic, 8 weeks since buds visible.

I have been watching for the hair to darken and curl in but most are still upwards and sturdy. I have 3 plants in the room but this one is the show-er so I really don't want to loose it. These are the biggest buds I've gotten so far by far.

A couple of the fat buds though seem to be dead and drying on the tip and appear to have some white fuzz near the stem where the tips are browning.

I took some trichome pics today and discovered a couple creepy crawlies. Spider mite? The webbing seems different then what I've experienced before.

I've managed to get a couple pics although hard to see. White, mite like, 2 black spots. Picture 6

So my question is......do I chop now before bugs get worse? Or try to hold off another week or 2 for trichomes to get milkier? Or will the mites stop them from getting better...I see some orange, and clear, .....I think

Any comments

Whoaa, you got a pretty bad case of bud rot and you're gonna lose the whole plant if you don't chop ASAP. Cut off the mouldy bud and harvest the whole plant while you still can.

The last 2 buckets , I use hot tap water in one 5 gal bucket and cold tap water in last bucket.
I tried the 4 bucket wash all in tepid water the first time. Im curious what difference the hot and cold made and what scenario it would be used for. I am about to take down last plant. Its getting buggy and I don't want to wait for more bugs.

Would like to use the best washing method for debugging at harvest time.

I simply read a bunch of bud washing opinions and picked the 4 bucket option ( w/ hot and cold water ) because it made sense to me. Did the hot/cold make a difference ?
IDK ? Would 1 bucket of rinse water make a difference ? IDK .
The first buckets were always very nasty and the second was not far behind. The rinse water , hot and cold , not so much.
I used it on 13 different harvests ( 3 varieties ) and did the Low Slow drying method with excellent results.
After a couple months curing ( in jars @ 62% RH ) the buds are beautiful , extremely tasty , and excellent smoke.
Every harvest .
These comments are just MY experience.
